La Garganta de los Infiernos is 124 kilometres from Caceres; to reach it take the A-66 until Plasencia and from here the N-110 to Jerte. The ravine was declared a Nature Reserve in 1994. It is within the municipal areas of Tornavacas, Cabezuela del Valle and Jerte. There are three Centres of Interpretation, one for each municipal area that forms it, where you can get information about the reserve. It has a wide variety of flora, with Holm oak, chestnut, oak, ash and holly trees, in which live the Booted Eagle, Honey Buzzard, Goshawk, Sparrowhawk, Eagle Owl, etc. The Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Griffon Vulture and Spanish Ibex live in the higher areas. Trout and barbel fish live in the clear waters of its rivers. Within the Garganta de los Infiernos you must visit Los Pilones, circular pools produced by the erosion of the granite riverbed by its waters.
There are several companies that run nature activities within these natural areas. Some of the services they offer include horse riding treks, hiking, rafting, climbing, water skiing, bungee jumping, canoeing, aerial tours, bird-watching trips around Monfragüe and photographic safaris.
